The ready service lockers are not well
described on the blue prints included with the Dumas kit. From them you can only
build the generic shape of the locker. They lack allot of the details found on the
real lockers.
I made my lockers from 0.040 styrene. I
made the handles from 0.030 brass and painted them haze gray.
These are the 3"/50 ready service
lockers under construction. They have clam shell doors with three hinges.
The finished 3"/50 ready service locker
mounted on the deck. The ready service lockers were not flush mounted to the deck.
The were mounted on legs, about 4" off the deck. Here, you can see where
I had the add styrene stock to ensure that the lockers were mounted level on the deck.

Here is one of the .50 cal ready service
locker just before I mounted it to the deck. These lockers are mounted on both port
and starboard sides on 01 level by the turbine air intake. Again, note the
legs on the locker.

On the blue prints, the pyrotechnic ready
service locker is the only locker that is described with doors.

These ready service lockers all have white
tops. Actually, the white top is another piece of metal mounted to the tops of the
lockers. This is to reduce the heat signature of the the lockers to reduce being hit
by munitions that use IR seekers. The tops can be clearly seen in the following
pictures.
