Rudder Post

Using an X-Acto® knife, cut through the steering arm, just inside the first hole, as shown. Then, assemble the nylon steering arm by inserting the 5/32" collar into the arm.

Insert the rudder shaft into the rudder post. Slip the steering arm over the rudder shaft. Tighten the set screw by inserting a screwdriver under F4 and the deck, as shown.




 

Cockpit Deck Hatch


Sand the edges of the cockpit hatch with a sanding block to obtain a loose fit when the hatch is in position in the cockpit deck opening.

Hold the hatch in position and trace the edges of the sub-deck and triangle stock on the underside of the hatch with a pencil, as shown.




Remove the hatch.  Cut hatch supports from basswood strip to fit just inside of the pencil lines on the underside of the hatch, as shown.  Glue the hatch supports to the hatch with Slow CA.

Test-fit the finished hatch.  If should lay flat on the sub-deck and triangle stock, and should be flush with the cockpit deck.


Remove the rear deck hatch, the cockpit hatch and both cockpit deck halves.
