Using Dumas Form No.62-272 for radio installation of the mister darby, using one speed control and Dumas Hardware kit. On "block wiring diagram of installation" where would you wire in a bow thruster, and how? I've called Dumas and they are unable to help me. How to wire a bow thruster is not something I would think Dumas would "walk" you through on the phone. There are a few roads you can take in order to wire a bow thruster. I would recommend that used a good quality ESC and NOT a Resistor Type Speed Control like the Dumas type. In order to provide you with good control, you need to use an ESC with reverse. An ESC that will work is the Traxxas XL1 Electronic Speed Control with Reverse. Hooking up the motor to your bow thruster is as easy as hooking up your ESC to your thruster following the paperwork that came with your bow thruster. You will use a channel on your to control your bow thruster. You can find an inexpensive ESC at www.towerhobbies.com -------------------- |

Thanks for the reply on wiring bow thruster in Mr. Darby. Sorry for the late response but I had decided to put Mr.Darby on the back burner for a while. Started a new project and finished it, inbetween: I had received the USS MONITER and CSS VIRGINIA kits from Dumas. The USS MONITER is finished and operational. It helped me clear my head and renew confidence in my boat building. The MONITER comes with clearer instructions and pictures to make this an easier build. Now back to the Darby bow thruster. I feel that part of the problem was, that with my graupner bow thruster there wasn't any instructions enclosed. I was able to install it byfollowing your great web site pictures, and must admit it came out great!(except for the wiring). Thanks again Roger! I have to sit down and order the speed controllers for Darby, from Harbor models.
