Over the years that I have had the Model Marina open, I have been asked many times

"what would be a good boat kit to start with?" :-/

Getting started in the hobby is not difficult, but if you choose a difficult to built kit… the journey can be a tough road. There are many kits on the market and the decision can leave a new modeler down right bewildered. Dumas has many kits they offer but I do not recommend that you start with one of their kits. I hate to say this but, with the poor directions and poor quality of wood, Dumas kits are not a good place to start with. One kit I would recommend is the all wood BOOTHBAY LOBSTERBOAT or Lobster Yacht kit by Midwest. These kits have outstanding written directions, are easy to build and need only a few extra items to complete. It even comes with the running gear! A Dumas 6 volt motor, ESC, battery pack and 2 CH radio are the only major items you would need to get this boat out on your local lake. smile.gif
