I talked to Don at Loyalhanna Dockyard about some scale models he has for sale. He has a 1/100th scale model of a Russian Soveremenny Class Destroyer for sale made by Tian Jie (TJ Models). Although this kit sales for $1295.00, it is a complete kit. For example, the fiberglass hull comes with the stern tubes, rudder s and rudder tubes and decks already installed! The superstructure is CNC cut and good quality fittings are included (brass props are also included). He told me that there are many other quality scale models available at Loyalhanna Dockyard from TJ Models. The Scale Shipyard is another source of these kits. 8-) Good to see some quality "full" kits on the market.

I called and talked to Don at Loyalhanna Dockyard about Tian Jie kits. After a year of waiting, I think I may soon get one of their kits. Don told me that they have worked to improve their kits but there are still problems. He inspects each kit before he ships it. Plus he supports what he sales. Meaning, if you have a problem with one of the kits you buy from him, you can call Don and he will help you work it out. This is far better than trying to get ahold of Tian Jie who is China. Thanks Don.

Lee at The Scale Shipyard also sales these kits. I know Lee inspects the kits he sales but I am unsure of the support he provides after the sale.

Let me know if you decide to get one of these kits. I have been thinking about getting the Udolay for some time now, but just have not felt that I have had the time to build one. The Russian Navy ships are great. And even better in the water against a Tico. :]
