First Log In to the Discussion Board.

Then click on "My Controls"

When the screen loads look at the menu at the left. The fist item is "Messenger". Below "Messenger" is a list of items you can choose.

The first item is "Compose New Message" use to write new messages.

The next item is "Inbox" this shows you the number of messages in your inbox (both read and unread). The menu item "New Messages" at the top menu on every page will tell you the number of new unread messages.

Take a look at "My Controls", there are alot of useful items in there for you to use. You can also use
"My Controls" to set up a Blog.
