Model Marina Discussion Board _ Member Builds _ First sail for my AZIZ

Posted by: rktman56 Aug 18 2006, 01:28 PM

THIS POST WAS FIRST POSTED ON 27 JUNE 2006 IN THE OLD MODEL MARINA DISCUSSION BOARD. Thought you may want to see this old post. wink.gif

Took the Aziz out to the lake today. I wnded up taking it out a day early. The wind was calm, and the Aziz was ready to go. Here are a few pictures of the first run: tongue.gif

The Aziz before I set it in the water. I have both 12 volt batteries inside so it will set below the water line. For the next run I will just use one battery. Also, you see that I have allot more work yet to do!!! ohmy.gif

Setting it in the water... (wife took a shot of my butt... looks like I have a few pounds I need to loose)

Water nice and calm. Turns and runs great.

Moving with the sticks ahead 1/4

view of the stern, decking looks good. More items to add.

Me... ohmy.gif

The Aziz is very stable in the water. Turns very well with rudders and with just the screws.

I even let the WIFE have a turn. :glare:

No water inside after a 30 min run.

Back from the lake, resting waiting for the wife to tell me to "get it out of the living room". Until she does, the Aziz will stay right where it is... tongue.gif

Here are a few shots of some details I have been working on:

Work being done on the waterfall wench. I have to wind line around the spools and detail before I add it to the Aziz.

One of the tugger wenches. I have both of them almost done, but still need to wind line around the spools. I soaked the included "kit" line in tea for three days to make it look rusted. This worked very well.

Work on the fire monitors and pipe work. I used brass rod, the included rodwas too brittle and broke.

Cleaning the fittings. The fittings are ready for paint... then they will be added to the Aziz. From the pictures, you can see that some have already been painted and put together. I am getting to the end of this project... then on the the next. biggrin.gif NO NOT THE END... Just a resting point. blink.gif

The Aziz being a Model Slipway kit, had a good set of directions. Plus a great set of fittings and a good fiberglass hull to start with. You can see more information here:

Please keep in mind that the website is still under construction. wink.gif
