Model Marina Discussion Board _ R/C Equipment _ Help! Robbe 8720 Navy sound module

Hi

I have the above item + the robbe 8080 spkr. I'm currently using the futaba t12Z radio

I would like to know how to connect this radio.

I'm confuse over the connection of the sound module to my receiver.

Which channel on the receiver do I connect the sound module to? How do you like the sound module to my transmitter.

Do I have to get a robbe radio in order for this module to work?

It looks like i have to get some kind of multi switch module for it to work.

Pls help.

Good question, but it doesn't have a simple answer like plug this wire into that plug. The http://at.robbe-online.net/rims_at.storefront/4501c47c001550cb271b3e0dc146060c/UserTemplate/1/?ISID=4501c47c001550cb271b3e0dc146060c includes an intergal Muli-Switch Decoder which can be controlled directly from a Multi-Switch Module fitted to the transmitter. This sound module also gives you two intergral Multi-Switch channels that can be used to operate two auxiliary functions. The auxiliary functions can be such functions as to control lights! But IF you can not hook up the unit none of it's functions will work.

I read through the Operating Instructions and I saw NOTHING about hooking it up to other radio systems. The only thing I saw was about setting the DIL switches where it showed the setting for Graupner. So using the Futaba T12Z may not work... is your T12Z an aircraft radio?!?

All is not lost. I would call Dave at Harbor Models and talk to him. You may think about getting the Robbe F-14 and a switch module. I know this will work!

Are you looking to just use ship's diesel sound on this module?

I have the midwest lobster boat. i was intending to put the module with the speaker in the front cabin (ample space.

Yes the 12Z is an aircraft tx with 14 channels (a pretty high end tx, just a step below the 14z) but it looks like it's going to be tough using the module on this tx.

I was initially confident that the sound module can be hook on a futaba receiver and use the rest of the channels on the tx to control the on/off of different sounds. it would be wonderful if I could just have the diesel sound, but i guess this would have to wait till i got the F14 or the FC-16.

I'm disappointed - as I initially thot that robbe futaba and futaba tx are all the same.

I will now consider shipping in the 8276 robbe which is just diesel engine sound only....but i think i better do more checks if it works with the 12z

If you just want to add diesel engine sound only, there are other things you can do that will work with the TX you have. Plus the sound modules are less expensive. The sound module you have now has way more features than you would need for the model you planned to install it in. I simple sound module that is diesel engine sound only is all you need.
