Model Marina Discussion Board _ Boats & Ships _ How will you build your Mister Darby

Posted by: rktman56 Aug 18 2006, 01:18 PM

Hey Jim, you said you pulled out the blueprints for Mister Darby again. Have you decided to build it exactly like Dumas calls for or are you gonna add a little imagination to your work of art? Jens sent me more pictures of his Darby under construction that you will want to see. ohmy.gif Here are a few.

Jim, let us know what you plan to do. wink.gif

I have been working at adding more pictures of the Mister Darby Jens sent me. His Darby is a work of ART. wink.gif

Roger,

When I purchased the Darby, it has been my intensions to customize it as far as: adding sounds and lights.
Although, building her will be a feat in itself, she still could use some improvements. Have you any thoughts on the new glass superstructure kit from Harbor? I'm wondering if this will speed up construction or more importantly, make a better looking tug? huh.gif

Guys, these notes are brilliant!. I love the pics too. I bought Mr Darby from Model Harbour a number of years ago now and am no where along the build that you guys are.
In fairness, I dont spend much time on it. The pics will certainly help me kick start it again.
I stopped when it came to mounting the rudder shafts into the hull, as I wasnt really sure how I was going to line the boat up on the Horizontal plane, allowing me to set the Rudders vertical. The problem that I saw was that the horizontal markings on the shell of the hull were all slightly off horizontal. Thus not wanting to get it wrong I stopped. Help on this would be appreciated.

Oh, being cheeky, I would love the plans for your stand!
