Being new to ships and boats..... I will have to admit to all that I did the "unforgivable" ....... I bought a RTF Atlantic from Aquacraft. I am hopes you WILL forgive me and answer my question I want to keep up with maintanence and I know NOTHING about "how to" .... or "how often" do I have to repack the driveshaft tube. Any detailed text or photos will help me keep from having a leak in this area. As an added thought..... aside from the satisfaction of building from a kit........this is quite a good deal for the begginer. Attached are some photos. The boat is on my airplane, (now boat too), workbench!! PS. I am an avid builder of RC Aircraft and have many kits under my belt. I was just anxious for a boat, and am limited on "playtime" since I went back to work at 65. Thanks, Indy Bob (sloboat) |

I saw my first rocket launch last summer. It was from a distance of at least 1/4 mile, but over wide open territory. I was at Muncie IN, at the AMA headquarters, also watching my first sailplane meet. The rocket took off in the distance and I was shocked at the altitude this thing achived. There were several more launches that day and I enjoyed watching them too. ........... sloboat. |

Indy Bob, First welcome to R/C Model Boats and also to this site! IF you wish to start in the hobby and like building, then take a look at this link: Boothbay Lobster Boat This is a great first time R/C Model Boat. It will allow you to "build" the boat and start you off in the hobby. I did part of my website on this boat so this will help you. Plus you can always ask here for help. Don't ever worry about asking a "dumb" question. The only dumb question is the "un-asked" question. I wish you the best and again, welcome to the hobby. Thanks Roger, Beleive it or not........ I had "Zeroed In" on the Boothbay, and read / viewed your posting of your build of this boat. After I read your post I joined the discussion board! Very good documentation! I had a couple other kits I like, and of course a couple of RTF boats. My object is to get the largest boat for the least money invested. (I also like my larger aircraft). Of course I know not to be tempted too much on "2nd rate" motors or ESC's. I have some experiece with a few electric aircraft. I wanted something slow so I would not be tempted to go fast and flip it. I also have 3 grandsons who might have the same temptations! A tug or the fishing boat models are probably the way to go for my needs. ....thanks again for the info on that build. sloboat. |

It is probably right in front of me and I am missing it I did start a gallery, (I think), but not sure. Anyway..... are there any general instructions I could get from someone? Thanks, New Member, Sloboat. |

Hello all, RC boats are new to me. I have been in RC airplanes for about 7 years but since moving to our new home, an interest in RC Boats has popped up! You see, our subdivision has 4 lakes in it and one is about 200 feet from my house. I have been reading and viewing all kinds of boating sites, gleening info for a project. I don't think I would have a problem building the boat of choice, but I want to make sure of the drive line and motor choice. (I have built about 5 airplane kits and enjoy the building process). My problem is time. At 65+, I have had to go back to work full time after being retired for 5 years. (Medical costs, etc) The other is my lack of knowledge in boating. I guess what I am trying to say is...... please forgive me........ My first boat may be a RTF to by-pass the two reasons above. Now that I have that off my chest I will hope to re-gain some respect!! Attached is my last airplane kit build.... I hope to have a boat kit soon and hope it turns out as nice as this sailplane........ later, sloboat |
