I am a brand new Model Marina member and look forward to learning a lot about a subject I am acutely interested in, even as I approach my 7th decade. One reason is to share a vast modeling resource www.scale-modelers-handbook.com I have been working on for the past two years which now has over 270 pages written by myself and other modelers I have come to respect. I just returned from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago where I visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. It was quite a moving experience. I purchased a Revell kit of the USS Arizona at the Memorial store with the intent of building a quality model. In researching this project I have found an almost disdain for the model based on quality and age (characteristics not far removed from my own) and this established a real challenge. I am going to build the kit into a diorama and do it as the basis for an online tutorial of this build on my website. It starts at: www.scale-modelers-handbook.com/online-build.html . If you get a chance, stop by and let me know what you think. Reg Hardy www.scale-modelers-handbook.com |
