Bow and Stern Thrusters: For the thrusters I used “Z”-drives
(Marx Motors) which I modified somewhat. In order to make this work
I used a 1½” x 14” ABS
pipe, cut it in half and glued the “Z”-drive into it with the motor being out
side on top. This way I created two thruster sub-assemblies. |

Having done this, I
only needed to modify the boats hull by cutting 4 ea. 1½” diameter holes and then
fiber glassing the two assemblies in to position.

I actually went a step further and built a
casing around the pipes so I could fill it with resin to ensure
total water tied ness. Filling the casings with resin did not only
ensure water tied ness it also added much needed weight to bring the
model to the proper waterline. Now you see only the motors nicely
sitting on top, which also meant they are easy accessible for
maintenance.

Trimming the ABS pipes to the shape of the
hull was the only thing that remained.
