Dumas recommends that you make up a stand to support the
hull during the rest of the construction. A cut down
cardboard box works just fine. Pad the box with an old
towel to keep it from denting the balsa planking.
This works until you can make a better stand for your
model. Either way, you need to support and pad
your hull during construction.
The next point in the construction we will be installing
the deck. I removed the deck parts from the
plywood sheets. I used masking tape and taped the
decking into
place on
the hull. With the decking in place, this give us
a chance to start to
work out the layout of the battery, motors, speed
control(s) and any other items you want to install
inside the hull. Remember that for this model it
is very important to keep the weight as low as possible
in the hull.
Taking the time now will allow you to get a better idea
of how much room you will have to work with inside your
hull. Plus doing this with the decking in place
allows you to get an idea of how much room you have to
access your electronics. In my hull, the speed
controls will be mounted on a removable board the mounts
aft of the motors. If you do not have your
electronics
