Using the drawing as a guide build up the Gun Control Director. The base circle and the gunnery officer's platform are die cut but the rest of the bits and pieces will have to be scratch built. Finish and paint the Gun Control Director before installing on the boat.

Make up the five rectangular deck hatches and eighteen free standing lockers and storage racks. Parts for the 3"/50 ammo lockers are die cut but the rest of the little blocks will have to be scratch built following the dimensions on the various detail drawings. Paint lockers prior to installation.
NOTE: If you are skipping around building details these lockers and hatches are excellent "fill" work, while glue or paint is drying elsewhere.

Cut three pieces of ¼" balsa 2 x 4" and cement them together. Carve the Boston Whaler from this block. After finishing and painting make up the canvas cover from a piece of Coverite or Fabricate from your scrap box. Coverite is available in small trim sheets if your scrap box is bare.

Make up the 15 man inflatable lifeboat racks as shown in the drawings. The life rafts are a pad of toilet paper wrapped with a piece of Coverite which was painted olive drap.

Roger's Notes: For the rafts, I used scrap balsa wood.  I filled the grain, then rounded the edges and gave it two coats of paint.  This works, I had to do this since I was out of Coverite. For the base of the racks, I used .040 styrene.
