Finish the main funnel as desired It isn't
necessary to fiberglass the funnel as it is generally out of harms way.
Roger's Notes: Here the main funnel is glued to
the superstructure. I gave the funnel two coats of resin, sanding between coats.
This provided a smooth surface to take a primer coat before the final color coat.

Build up the two smaller diesel funnels from
1/4 x 1/8" balsa as shown using the full size patterns.
Make up the mast sockets shown in fig. cement to the front of small
funnels.
Assemble the turbine intake from the
"D" parts. Make the round dowel by sanding off 1/16" of the top of a
5" piece 1/8" dowel.
Carve the mist eliminator duct from the 3/4 x
3/4 x 2-3/4 pine block.
Glue the large and two smaller funnels to the
lower cabin top. I recommend that the turbine intake mist eliminator and all other small
details be painted separately before cementing them on the boat.
Roger's Notes: Here the main funnels, turret and
superstructure are readied for a resin coat. |
