Make up the rear access hatch as shown in figs. 2A & 2B. Cement the 1/16 ply tags shown in 2B to the hatch only. Also cement a tag to the underside of the deck on the center line to support the hatch until the rest of the Bofors mount is added. Cut through frame 12 with a razor saw to free the hatch.

Roger's Notes: This is a step where you have to make a few decisions.  Follow the "Extras" link on the main menu and read about the added lights and control linkages.  Then come back to this step.

Dumas has recommend fiberglassing the deck and hatch at this time. It is much easier to sand the deck smooth before all the detail construction is added.


Roger's Notes: Here I leave the decision to fiberglass the deck to you.  I added two coats to finishing resin (sanding between coats) to seal the deck.  Sense the deck is made out of plywood, the fiberglass is not going to add any more strength to it.
