Clear Coats

I strongly feel you should add a clear top coat.   This adds a layer of protection over the color coats.  For this project I used Krylon® satin clear coat.

For the crest on the side wall of 01 level I used this crest.  I printed it out, cut t out and used rubber cement to attach it to the model.  This was a temporary thing that I have not changed in about a year.  Although it sounds lewd to add something of this cheap nature to the ship but the visual impact is stunning.

For you who want to do it right, I would suggest you print the crest on clear or white blank decal material.  After this, dust it lightly with several clear coats to protect the ink.  Make sure you do this BEFORE you submerge the decal in water or the ink will run.

Here is the USS Crockett patch.
