  Super Detailing - The Crew

inv_spacer.gif (807 bytes)

This was one of the more difficult areas to detail.  I have not found a 1/35th scale US Navy crew, other than what I found in the PBR kits I had.  So, I was forced to make my own crew.

As for the uniform, crew wore standard Navy dungarees while underway. Pants dark blue, shirt medium blue, ball caps dark blue, work jacket dark blue. Chiefs and officers wear kakie(sp?) (light tan), although chiefs will also wear dungarees if engaged in real dirty work. All will wear the dark blue ball cap while underway.  You have allot of area to incorporate your own ideas. This is because simply these ships were a little "pirate" Navy and standardization was not strictly enforced at this timeSo I had my crew wear helmets instead of ball caps.  Looks better for a ship going into combat.

I used several 1/35th scale military figure sets.  The German officers were made into the officers and chiefs.  The rest were made into the enlisted crew members.  I removed the raised detail on the uniforms that was not needed with a roto tool
