Fitting the Running Gear

During the construction of this model, I have seemed to take one step forward and then take two steps back.  The feeling of not making any progress has set in a few times so far.  During the installation of the running gear was one such time.

The original plan for this model was to use the running gear I had ordered from Sirmar.  I received this gear a few years ago and started installation.  I got to the point of installing one stern tube before setting the model aside.

During the time I preparing to resume building on this model, I sent a few emails to Eric @ HomePort Model Ships asking him about the running gear he had used on his model.  He told me about the running gear made by  G.T. Sitek Scale Brass Propellers.  Below are pictures of the model Eric built using this running hardware:

After seeing the running gear made by  G.T. Sitek Scale Brass Propellers, I decided to use their running gear.  I ordered my set from Loyalhanna DockyardI recommend that IF you intend to order your set from Loyalhanna Dockyard, inquire both Loyalhanna Dockyard & G.T. Sitek Scale Brass Propellers a quote.  I failed to do this and ended up paying far more than needed and waiting much longer for my order.  According to Don @ Loyalhanna Dockyard, he and G.T. Sitek Scale Brass Propellers have not worked out a price to sale the running hardware.  This leaves us (the modelers) paying more for the same product that we can get from the manufacture for less.  It also allows nothing for companies like Don has in the way of profit.  This is an ugly situation.

After receiving my running gear I inspected it.  I was very happy with the quality of the props.  The "A" struts and stern tubes where high quality also.
