Battery Deck

I recommend that you make a battery deck for your model.  This is a deck that is placed at the bottom of the inside of your hull.  It not only supports your battery, but protects the hull form dropped tools and other misfortunes.  This deck can be made from plywood or plexi-glass. I made mine from 3/16" aircraft grade plywood.

I first cut strips of paper to use to make a pattern for my deck.  I used a 3/4" spruce piece located down the center line of the hull.  I then taped the paper strips into place, making a template of the battery deck.

After my pattern was made I used it to cut out my plywood.  After checking the fit, I used epoxy to glue it into place.

After the battery deck was glued into position, I checked to ensure the battery deck was still level.
