Hull Construction   step.gif (1063 bytes)
Center F4 under the deck and glue it in position with Slow CA so that it is flush with the inside edge of the deck, as shown.

Roger's Notes: It may be necessary to bend F4 slightly to obtain this fit.

Remove the pins from the transom. Center the transom under the rear edge of the deck and push up on it until the 1/8" square strip on the transom contacts the sub-deck and the sub-deck is straight. Then, glue the transom to the deck, keel and subdeck with CA.

Butt one 5/32" square keel strip against the transom and insert it into the notches in F3 and F4. Glue it to these parts and to the keel with CA. Then, bend the keel strip into the notches in F2 and F1. Adjust the curve in the strip so that its front portion is parallel to the bottom of the keel, near F1, as shown here and on the plan. Glue the strip to the keel and frames with CA. Cut the front end of the strip flush with the front side of F1.

Hull Assembly

Roger's Notes: Steps #37 through #51 explain the installation and gluing sequence that insure that the decks and frames are correctly aligned. Follow these instructions exactly as presented.  This will reduce the chance that you will introduce a warp into the hull.

Pin the transom against the keel. Bend the deck into contact with the frames so that its back edge is over and flush with the transom, as shown. Then, center the front of the deck on the stem and pin it to the stem.

Center the deck on F2 so there is at least a 3/32" gap between the inside edges of the deck and F2, as shown. Glue the deck to F2 with Slow CA.

Roger's Notes: In order to ensure a perfect fit, I used a scrap pieces of wood from the sheet the cabin sides where taken.
