Position the cockpit deck halves on
the sub-deck. Make a "U" shaped hanger from a piece
of the soft brass wire by bending the wire around the stack, as
shown.
Position the cockpit deck halves on
the sub-deck.
Position the stack on the cockpit deck and
against the rear edge of the cockpit roof, as shown here and on
the plan. Mark the location of the stack on the deck. Also,
place the hanger around the stack and press it against the rear
cockpit roof frame to mark its location on the frame.
Remove the stack and the cockpit
deck halves. Drill two 1/16" holes through the rear
cockpit roof frame for the hanger. Drill a 1/4" hole through the
cockpit deck, at the location of the stack. Enlarge this hole
with an X-Acto® knife to allow the stack to fit tightly into it.
Then, paint the stack and hanger black. Place these parts aside.
They will not be needed again until the cockpit deck is glued in
place.

the 1/4" x 3/4" brass tube at an angle, as shown. Sand the
outside of this tube until it is shiny. Then assemble the stack
parts, as shown.
Lay the
assembled parts on some scrap wood, as shown, so the joint is
not in contact with the wood. Use t-pins to hold the parts in
position. Solder the joints together. use a flat file to smooth
the joints. Then, cut the top part of the stack to the length
shown on the plan.
