cockpit roof into position on these parts until the Slow CA cures (about 20 seconds). The cockpit is now complete.

Roger's NotesI did my cockpit roof a bit differently.  The pictures below how I did the cockpit roof on my model.

Back in Step #190,  the cockpit roof was being aligned to the roof structure.  Here is how I changed things a bit.  I used four clamps to lightly clamp the roof in place.

After I marked the cockpit sides and removed the extra material from the roof, I sanded the roof.  I sanded the roof to match with the cockpit sides.

I did not leave an overhang as shown in the manual.  I knew I was going to glue the roof in place and a smooth joint between the roof and cockpit sides was more important.

When I removed the roof, it was primed, painted and readied  for attachment to the boat.

Drill a " hole through the center of the winch stand. Then, paint the winch stand and about 6" of the " x " x 24" basswood strip with white paint.

Roger's Notes:  The painted basswood strip will be used later to make the legs for the winch stand.

After painting the winch stand, use a sanding block to make a 45° bevel on one edge. Attach the winch drum with the bolt and nut, as shown.

Roger's Notes:  Do not glue the winch stand in place yet. Put the winch stand and painted basswood strip aside. They will be installed later in construction.

Test-fit the cockpit roof on the beams and top of the windshield. If necessary, adjust the tops of the cockpit roof beams and windshield with a sanding block so the cockpit roof fits tightly in place. Then, remove the cockpit roof.
