Cabin Sides
You will need the parts
illustrated in your manual to complete this sub-assembly. The
die-cut parts are in Bag Number Three (#3), except the rear
coaming, which is on the die-cut sheets in the bottom of the
box. The wood strips are in Bag Number Two (#2).
Roger's Notes:
You will only need
one of the rear coaming parts from the die-cut sheets, the extra
is scrap.
Remove the needed parts from the die-cut sheets.
Sand the edges
of the die-cut parts, as in step #14, to remove any burrs or
rough spots.
Lay the
plan on the building board so that the drawings of both cabin
sides are completely on the board. Cover these drawings with a
piece of plastic wrap (I used wax paper). Then, align the cabin
sides on the drawings and pin them flat on the plan, as shown.
Roger's Notes:
Position the cabin
sides on the plan so that they are over and aligned with
the drawings of the cabin sides. Hold them in position by
placing push-pins (you can get at Wal*Mart for a few cents) in
the board so that the pins touch the edges of the parts and the
shoulders of the pins press down on the tops of the parts.
Use this same method
for constructing all remaining parts that must be pinned to the
plan. Whenever possible, avoid pushing pins through parts, as
this could cause the wood to split. This technique is
simple and very effective in holding parts to the plan.

Cut the window frames from the 3/32" x 5/16" x 24" strips.
Note that the rear vertical window frame on the left cabin
side is made from the
3/32" x 1/2" x 2-7/8" strip. Using the plan as a
pattern, pin the parts in position with push-pins. Then, apply
CA to the joints.
Roger's Notes:
I used a
Miter Cut Precision
Wood Cutting Tool from Fourmost
to cut the strips.
