Use the extended lines on the plan to position the ⅛" square vertical braces and roof supports. Cut and glue these parts to the cabin sides and window frames with CA, as shown. Note that the vertical braces end flush with the top edge of the window frames and bottom edge of the cabin sides.

Remove the cabin sides from the plan. Use a sanding block to sand the joints flush on the exterior sides of these parts, as shown.

Roger's Notes: Make the curved trim piece for the right cabin side by gluing a piece of scrap from a cabin side die-cut sheet into the corner. You can use a quarter or other round object around the shop as a template to draw the curve on the wood.  Cut out and glue in place.

Roger's Notes: After I sanded the exterior sides of the cabin sides, I then taped or clamped these parts together.  I aligned them, then lightly taped or clamped them together.  I then sanded  the edges of the parts, as in step #14, to remove any burrs, rough spots and to ensure these parts where both same in contour.

Cabin Sides

You will need the parts illustrated in your manual to complete this sub-assembly. The die-cut parts are in Bag Number Three (#3), except the rear coaming, which is on the die-cut sheets in the bottom of the box. The wood strips are in Bag Number Two (#2).

Roger's Notes: You will only need one of the rear coaming parts from the die-cut sheets, the extra is scrap.

Lay the plan on the building board so that the drawings of both cabin sides are completely on the board. Cover these drawings with a piece of plastic wrap (I used wax paper). Then, align the cabin sides on the drawings and pin them flat on the plan, as shown.

Roger's Notes: Position the cabin sides on the plan so that they are over and aligned with the drawings of the cabin sides. Hold them in position by placing push-pins (you can get at Wal*Mart for a few cents) in the board so that the pins touch the edges of the parts and the shoulders of the pins press down on the tops of the parts.

Use this same method for constructing all remaining parts that must be pinned to the plan. Whenever possible, avoid pushing pins through parts, as this could cause the wood to split.  This technique is simple and very effective in holding parts to the plan.

Cut the window frames from the 3/32" x 5/16" x 24" strips. Note that the rear vertical window frame on the left cabin side is made from the
3/32" x 1/2" x 2-7/8" strip. Using the plan as a pattern, pin the parts in position with push-pins. Then, apply CA to the joints.

Roger's Notes: I used a Miter Cut Precision Wood Cutting Tool from Fourmost to cut the strips.
