After the purple paint
had dried, I applied the vinyl sticky letters as a mask to allow
me to paint the letters. After the stickers were applied,
I masked off the transom and sprayed a flat white color coat.
I had sprayed the entire transom purple for two reasons.
The first I didn't know yet where I wanted the letters to go.
The second being it will give me a more uniform appearance.
I got myself into a situation I don't like to be in. I try
never to apply a lighter top coat over a darker base coat.
I was ready to apply as many coats as needed to cover the
purple. I lucked out and only two good coats were needed.
You could have applied the stickers at the end, left them on and
called it done. Or you could have made your own decals.
The painting method gives a rough appearance as seen on
the real boats.
After the white paint had dried, I then removed the letters.
I did this when the white paint had dried, but not fully
hardened (cured).

I next removed the making
tape from the hull and looked at my painted hull.
The next photos show what my painted hull looks like
at the waterline.
