Hull Construction   I next cut two motor mounts and glued them aligned to the centerline of the model.

Roger's Notes: The balsa sticks in the picture above are used only as spacers.  They where used to keep the motor mounts in alignment as the epoxy dried.

After the epoxy dried, I checked the alignment of the motor, gearbox and universal joint.

Roger's Notes: The motor in the picture above looks misaligned.  Well, IT IS.  I took the picture after I was done working and didn't notice I didn't align the motor very good for the picture.  In the model the motor is aligned.

Next I test fitted the ESC and REC and batteries.  I tested the position of the ON/OFF switch.  I selected the position just under the hinged cover, allowing me to easily turn on and off the boat.

Roger's Notes: Notice in the picture where I used scrap wood by the screws.  This is to "fine-tune the alignment of the motor.  These allowed me to find the pieces I needed and cut these to from.

Alternate Motor Installation

The Master Airscrew 3.5:1 gearbox came with a pinion gear that needs to be slid onto the motor shaft.  I added a drop of light oil and slid the gear onto the motor shaft.

Next I looked at the inside of the hull.  I took a tracing of the bottom of the hull on the inside.  This was used to fit twp pieces of lite plywood as reinforcement.

I used the pattern of the bottom of the hull to find two pieces of 1/8" lite plywood that would work as supports. I cut these and glued them to the inside bottom of the hull.
