I purchased the Midwest Boothbay Lobsterboat kit by Midwest Products Co., Inc.  from my local hobby shop.  The Midwest Boothbay Lobsterboat kit no. 964 requires some additional items in order to complete and configure it for R/C.  The main additional items that are required are the Midwest Meps-III Motor System (if you will use Midwest power system), a two channel radio and two 6-Cell Pack with a Tamiya style standard connectors.  You also need basic hobby building materials that are available at your local hobby shop.

If you use the only the basic motorizing components and radio components, you will spend about $290.00 per the Tower Hobbies website.  I used the Tower Hobbies website to give you a "generic" quote of the basic cost.  When ever possible, support your "local" hobby shop!

If you intend in changing the "basic" setup and running gear as I did, this will increase the basic quote give above.  With the added cost of a gearbox, Electronic Speed Control (ESC) and Dumas 6 volt motor, the cost came out about $10.00 more.

My initial investment just for the kit, motor, ESC, radio equipment & batteries was about $300.00.  Other items were purchased during assembly that has increased the initial investment, but not by much.

After opening the kit, I inspected the contents.  My kit was complete and the wood that was contained  within the kit was high quality.
